Dido's Lament —
Someone asked me to sing something Hannibal-related in light of the traumatic events that occurred tonight, and tbh I really cannot be creative right now because it was just all too much. So I’ve done Dido’s Lament from Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas, which reminds me a great deal of Hannibal and I think is probably something he’d appreciate. (At least I hope so otherwise I’d be dinner.) It’s short and not fancy but seriously it is all I got because I am full of show-inflicted wounds. Enjoy.
DIDO’S LAMENT (from Dido and Aeneas)
When I am laid, am laid in earth,
May my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in thy breast;
Remember me, remember me, but ah! forget my fate.
Remember me, but ah! forget my fate.
